Biografia:
A banda de hard rock Trapeze, formada em 1968, em Wolverhampton, Inglaterra, uniu o vocalista John Jones e o guitarrista e tecladista Terry Rowley (ambos ex-membros da Montanas [nota minha: a coletânea da banda, "You've Got To Be Loved", lançada em 1997, já foi postada aqui], famosa pelo hit "You've Got To Be Loved") com o cantor e guitarrista Mel Galley, o baixista Glenn Hughes e o baterista Dave Holland. Assinando com a Threshold Records, gravadora da Moody Blues, a Trapeze lançou seu primeiro disco, homônimo, em 1970; Jones e Rowley voltaram para a Montanas logo depois, e em 1970 o trio remanescente ressurgiu com "Medusa".

O grupo excursionou exaustivamente, tanto em casa quanto fora, e apesar da sua fusão de rock e funk ter sido citada como influência primordial de bandas como ZZ Top, o sucesso comercial foi mínimo. Na esteira do terceiro disco da banda, "You Are The Music... We're Just The Band", de 1972, Hughes substituiu Roger Glover na Deep Purple. O guitarrista Rob Kendrick e o baixista Pete Wright juntaram-se ao grupo, que lançou "Hot Wire", em 1974, seguido de outro LP homônimo; em 1976, o trio central Galley, Hughes e Holland se reuniu mais uma vez, embora sem gravar nada naquele período.

Hughes saiu novamente, antes de "Hold On", de 1978, que contou com Wright, além do novo guitarrista, Pete Goalby; a Trapeze então se dissolveu. Galley incorporou-se à Whitesnake (e, posteriormente, à Black Sabbath), enquanto Holland estabilizou-se na Judas Priest. Galley, Hughes e Hollland reagruparam-se outra vez, em 1991, para um show em Londres, ocorrido em maio de 1992, que rendeu um disco ao vivo, "Welcome To The Real World" (nota minha: Mel Galley morreu em 1° de julho de 2008, depois de uma dolorosa luta contra um câncer de esôfago) (Jason Ankeny, AllMusic; tradução livre do inglês).
